Mudroch Ján

* 1909 Sotina – † 1968 Bratislava

Slovak painter and pedagogue. He studied in Bratislava and on a Prague academy (J. Obrovský and W. Nowak). He was a member of a Prague Art Association. In Slovakia he acted in the Avant-garde 38 surrealism movement. He participated on establishment of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava where he was a chancellor and later head of the Department of Figural Painting. At the end of the thirties he deflected from Nowak cubistic painting. In 1945 he created linear construction on a geometric basis on behalf of rationalisation of the image area. In the fifties and sixties emotional effect of colours dominates e.g. through mother with child theme.
