The exhibition BEAUTY OF OLD BOOKS presents a collection of books of historical Trnava University printer. Exhibition is prepared from the book collection of prof. MUDr. Bohumil Chmelík, PhD., pedagogue of the Faculty of Health and Social Work. The exhibition documents the high artistic level of book production Trnava book printer in terms of book culture – remarkable decorative initials, typefaces, rare illustrations, printing method and quality decorated binding.
The exhibition is prepared in cooperation with Trnava University and Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava to the 375th anniversary of the Trnava University active in years 1635 – 1777. It is a reminder of the university printer which during the 132-year existence printed 3.000 titles in different languages, among them more than 330 prints in a Slovak language.
Exhibition BEAUTY OF OLD BOOKS is a significant enrichment of the Year of Trnava University.
