Jakub Reken QUICK MOTION, detail

Exhibition in clUb 3 presents the newest group of paintings by a young Slovak artist Jakub Reken (1986) within the program of establishment of new artists on the creative art stage. His way of painting arises from a simple principle of improvisation and stratification of abstract elements, fragments, imaginary spaces that he transforms into intricate color structure of surfaces and lines throughout the process. Particularity of Reken´s approach consists in certain process-like work, where, next to creating the picture itself, the author captures the course of its formation with a camera. Such photorecording presented in parallel with paint art works thus brings a new thrill between painting and video, showing the time sequence of single stages of canvas creation (therefore the title „Quick Motion“).

Jakub Reken (born in 1986 v Rimavská Sobota), having graduated from the School of Utility Fine Arts in Košice (2001-05) he is in his 3rd year at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (since 2006), in prof. Ivan Csudai´s studio IV.
