Binder Erik

*21 February 1974 Hnúšťa-Likier

Painter and artist Erik Binder studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (1991 – 1999) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1997 – 1998). He paints, models, draws comics and sprays. He works with symbols of contemporary culture. He is inspired by everything around him (advertisement, computer graphics, hip-hop, graffiti art, comics, waste materials, animated series, Eastern martial art etc.). The main principle of his creation is playful joy of creativity. His installations are made of electric-installation materials, extension cords, child’s toys, food or chewing gums. He plays with verbal toys, he creates various new phrases, words and names for his creation, he works also under the name Kunst-Fu or Kunst-Fa (family). He participated on several individual and collective exhibitions. He is a multiple finalist of the Oskar Čepan Prize.
