Dobeš Milan

*29 July 1929 Prešov

Slovak painter and graphic designer. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (1951 – 1956, prof. L. Čemický, B. Hoffstädter, D. Milly). The main problem of his creation was integration of category of movement into art work and transformation of visual character of imaging structure. Through solving the question of relation light and art work he came to new animated form of its utilization. Natural or artificial light became in connection with virtual, mechanical or motorized movement primary constructional element of spatial visual-kinetic and light-kinetic objects. He wrote manifestos about light, movement and dynamic constructivism. In the year 2001 the European Cultural Society opened the Milan Dobeš Museum in Bratislava.
