Jozef Dóka junior


*12 September 1948 Sered - † 14 November 2011 Trnava

He was an active artists, poster designer, initiator of the Poster Triennial in Trnava and the first, and later honorary, chairman of the Organizing Committee. He was also a member of the civic association Poster.

1970-76 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava.
In early 80s, he came up with the idea to establish a poster exhibition in Trnava. Only after political situation in Czechoslovakia changed, he managed to establish Trnava Poster Triennial. At first czechoslovak competion had turned to international competitive exhibiton of posters in 1994.
In 1997, in colaboration with Ing. arch. Zuzana Nádaská presented the idea of Trnava new tower of glass - a futuristic vision of the 2001. His intention was to create multifunctional building suitable for presentation of posters and applied arts in Trnava.
To protest against the arrogance of government he ignored opportunities to present his works at Trnava Poster Triennial ’97.
In 2002 he founded the First poster gallery on the street - in the windows of the Czechoslovak Commercial Bank.


November 17, 2018 is CLOSED.

During the Trnava Poster Triennial 2018 exhibition the Synagogue is open also at Saturday from 1PM to 6 PM.
