Rónai Peter

Painter, professor Peter Rónai (*1953, Budapest) is a leading Slovak artist who focuses mainly on video installations. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (prof. J. Želibský, 1974), painting, and graphic at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts (prof. I. Koczis, 1976) in Budapest and the theory of a photograph at the same school. In the period 1990 – 1993 he was together with Július Koller a member of the group “New seriousness”. In the year 1990 he taught at the University of the Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, three years later he taught conceptual art at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Today, he leads the studio “video” at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. He also works as the head of the Department of artistic communication at the Faculty of Mass Media of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava.
