Šturdík Jozef

*13 March 1920, Križovany pri Trnave – †14 November 1992, Bratislava

Painter, drawer, illustrator, national artist. He studied at the Department of Drawing and Painting of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He was a member of the Group of Slovak artists of 29th August. Firstly, he devoted to creation of figural studies and still-lives. Impressive, poetic expression dominated. Later, he worked through to his own style. He inclined to unique lyricism. He painted morning still-lives, self-portraits, acts and landscapes. He developed drawing with charcoal and pastel in combined techniques. He individually exhibited at home (Bratislava, Trnava, Trenčín, Žilina) and abroad (Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Krakow, Skopje, Moscow, Leningrad). Exhibition of collected work was in Bratislava, Liptovský Mikuláš and Prague.
