Varga Ľudovít

*27 January 1917, Merašice – †7 April 1945, Mathausen

Privately studied painting (S. Havrlík) in Trnava and at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, branch painting – geography. He worked as a professor of drawing in Bratislava. He participated in the Slovak National Uprising, after return he was arrested by the Gestapo. He died in a concentration camp. He devoted to landscape-painting, portrait and figural compositions. For his last creative period ink-drawing was characterised. He is an author of expressive, colour-specific figural compositions reflecting the horrors of war. He individually exhibited in Bratislava.
