Methexis & Parusia presents works by Peter Kalmus in the Galéria Jána Koniarka in Trnava.
Peter Kalmus (1953) is within the Slovak art scene regarded as a famous and significant artist.
His works are varied, they are based on the context of alternative scene with an outstanding and original display. His display is flexible, he is an action artist, performer, graphic designer, moreover, he also created so called author’s books (objects).
At the Galéria Jána Koniarka, Peter Kalmus presents his last works, entitled Methexis & Parusia, in which he renders 86 hydrological maps of climate Atlas of the former Czechoslovakia from a genuine album from the late 1950's. The artist creates a minimal geometric shifting - he lumps coloured lines together, which creates a rhytmical colour fields around the Czechoslovak borders. He installs the original material, that means map vertically. The familiar shape of the country thus converted offers another point of view and becomes an exhibit with a new, aesthetic function.
The artist lives and works in Košice, in Bratislava and in Piešťany.
