The exhibition project Environments of the young creative artist Robert Jančovič Jr. (born 1981) is the first solo presentation within his comprehensive work. The exhibition consists of graphic and sculptural works – the two disciplines that the author has been engaged in for a long time.

The exhibition title, Environments, refers directly to the artist´s source of inspiration: to the Environments. Robert Jančovič Jr. leads quite a closed life of a creator as is evident also in the visual character of his works - in concentration. It is man´s relationship to the environment that is developing according to the level of concentration and his understanding of the environment results from it. Quality of concentration depends on the nature of man, i.e. who he is and where he is heading with respect to everything else (time, story etc.). He is like a point in space that is influenced by the parameters of that environment. He is an artist who is able to focus on a certain thing and he relatively has the environment under control. Genesis of creation based on such concentration has its specific qualities that are, especially in today´s fast and distracted times, very difficult to acquire. It is therefore rare to meet such result.

Robert Jančovič Jr. has been developing his artistic skills since his early childhood. Father, who himself is an artist, sensed the son´s potential soon, he studiously imprinted the best foundations in him, which eventually paid off. He quickly and easily translated his children´s drawings into an artistically more demanding workmanship. From cutting through engraving in wood and linoleum he gradually came to more complex graphical techniques such as drypoint, etching, mezzotint, aquatint, lithography, etc. Meanwhile, next to his interest in surface media, he added spatial sculpture.

Professional interest in fine art began with Robert Jančovič Jr. when he studied at the School of Applied Arts of J.Vydra in Bratislava in years 1995 – 1999, at the Department of Stone Sculpture with academic sculptors Viliam Loviška, Jozef Hobor, Vojtech Pohánka a Jozef Hrvoľ, academic painter. He continued studying at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in years 1999 – 2004 at two departments: the Department of Printmaking and Other media under doc. Vojtech Kolenčík, academic painter, and later at the Department of Sculpture, Object and Installation in the studio of Prof. Juraj Meliš, academic sculptor. During his master´s studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design he completed an internship at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts at the Department of Printmaking under Prof. Jiří Lindovský which fundamentally influenced his further creative direction.

During his university studies he acquainted himself with sculptural craft of casting in bronze and he successfully developed it in various foundries in Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.

Curriculum Vitae of Robert Jančovič Jr. is rich in exhibitions and other activities, though he says „for me it is not important to exhibit but rather to plunge eagerly into creation".

He exhibits at home and abroad, participates in international residencies and receives awards and recognitions; he had a solo exhibition in Slovakia, Hungary and Italy. He participated in group exhibitions in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, China and Japan. As early as during his high school studies at Moravian Velké Losíny he received prizes for the graphics twice in a row. His works are in the permanent collections of galleries and private collections in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, Belgium, France, Slovenia, China and Japan. He completed residencies in Hungary, Slovenia and China.

Robert Jančovič Jr. is currently professionally active as a „master“ in the printmaking workshop at the Department of Printmaking and Other Media of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Since 2010, however, he has been living and creating in Trnava together with his wife, also a creative artist.
