Secondhand Practices: Clothing, Community, and Reuse

The discussion will focus on both global and local aspects of the textile industry, its environmental and social impacts, and possibilities for sustainable transformation. The re-(t)exHile project connects experiences from Nigeria and Slovakia, mapping the movement and recycling of secondhand clothing, and examining its effects on the environment and communities. The conversation will involve the authoring team as well as local stakeholders from various fields who actively contributed to the collective research and brought their own practices and perspectives on the Slovak textile industry, and on what remains at the end of its production cycle.
Topics will include responsible production, sustainable consumption, and new operational models for fashion in the context of the climate crisis.
