Guided Tour of the Exhibition Theory of the Swarm with Curator Lýdia Pribišová

How can individual beings synchronize into a single movement without a leader or a plan? In nature, we see this in flocks of birds, swarms of bees, or colonies of ants, where complex collective behavior emerges from simple individual reactions. This principle, known as swarm intelligence, has inspired not only scientists but also artists.
The exhibition explores how the principles of collective intelligence can be applied to human experience—from group dance or meditation to situations in which individual will resists the force of the crowd. Some works relate directly to the concept of the swarm, while others challenge or subvert it—such as Matej Gavula’s video Run, which captures a moment of resistance against the movement of the crowd. During the guided tour, we will examine how the boundaries between the individual and the collective dissolve in art, and what the phenomenon of collective movement can reveal about ourselves.
