Lecture titled Architecture and Sculpture under Parler Influence and the Position of Milan and Lombardy with architectural historian Paolo Sanvito at the Koppel Villa Library at 18:00.
In this lecture, he aims to summarize the key formal and stylistic innovations introduced during the construction of Milan Cathedral, made possible by the highly open and cosmopolitan patronage from its re-founding in 1385. This monument was not an isolated phenomenon at the time, but rather represented an important instrument in the hands of ducal international politics, while also serving as a meeting point for ideas circulating across Europe between cities such as Arras, Brno, Graz, and Freiburg.

BIO:
He studied art history at the universities of Rome 1 / “G. C. Argan” Institute, Freiburg im Breisgau, Frankfurt am Main, and Fribourg in Switzerland. In 1995, he obtained his PhD on the subject of Milan Cathedral, published in 2002. In 1996, he completed postgraduate specialization in art history at the University of Rome 1. He undertook research residencies in Prague, Leiden, London, and Venice.
In 2003/04, he served as a foundation-supported professor at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. From 2004 to 2008, he was a junior professor at the University of Rome, and from 2013 to 2015 at the University of Naples. Between 2008 and 2012, he led a sub-project on architectural history within the Collaborative Research Center (SFB 644) at Humboldt University in Berlin.
From 2011 to 2018, he founded the Acoustical Investigations project at the Audiocommunication Laboratory and the Institute of Art History at the Technical University of Berlin. In 2016, he collaborated on the inter-university project Cultural Heritage Information System in Berlin.
He has taught and held visiting positions at several German (2017, 2017/18, 2019/20) and Austrian universities (2017–2019). In 2019, he completed his habilitation and worked as a senior assistant at Faculty VI of the Technical University of Berlin, at the Chair of Architectural Theory.
